Action Project Presentaion

Sean’s presentation about athletes being over paid affected my thinking on how they should get paid. I think that they shouldn’t get paid that much especially if the are going to just waste there money on thing they don’t need. In his presentation he said that most athletes declare bankruptcy with in a few years of retirement. It affected me by realizing how over paid athletes are and I think there pay should be desreased.

Air Force Calls For Unmanned Cargo Aircraft

This week I read the article about an unmanned AIR FORCE cargo plane. The AIR FORCE wants an unmanned cargo plane for drop supplies in hazardous area, such as area under heavy fire. I think this would be a go idea for the AIR FORCE considering that a lot of aircraft already use fly by wire on fighter jets. So this would be a step in the right direction. This could save the lives of the pilot and crew if any thing happened during a supply drop. Though some would still want to be there in case of a computer malfunction. This also raise the question what if a enemy some gain control of the plane. Then what would happen there would have to be so type of fail safe. They also talk about the capabilities of the plane it would have to have vertical take off or a short runway take off. It also has to be recoverable by ship and be able to land on rough surfaces during a combat mission. So I think there is a long way to go but it's not out of reach.

You Thought Your Laptop Was Portable

This week i read an article about a roll-up laptop that Orkin Design and Sony are working on.This will change the way we use laptops. It is a roll-up laptop that is a 17-inch display and can be converted into a table PC or a stand up monitor. It also house the charger in the canister. It is defiantly the new generation of laptops. This technology is still in development so it will be a while before you see it stores. This makes wonder what else could this technology be used for. Perhaps a roll-up TV for on the go viewing or for a more ethical use a roll-up first aid station. This could be used in ambulance for quicker treatment. Who know what could happen. This reminds me of the video we watched in class were the girl holds up a sign say that the job she will have in the future doesn't exists today. I don't think this job existed even five years ago. So this is proof that this is true. When this laptop comes out i think there will be someone else working on something more advanced. This will probably keep happening as the years go on. Someone will always be take the next step.I have to ask myself will i be one step behind or two steps ahead.

The New Classroom

After reading Mr. Fisch's H1N1, Skype, and a Possible Tipping Point blog it really meant a lot to me because recently i was sick and i thought it would be cool just sit in on your classes use skype. Could this be the new way students attend classes using skype? It reminds me of a show called Ned's Declassified School Survival Guide because there is a teacher there that teachers her students through a computer. IF students are sick i think the should have the option to use a tool like skype that way even if there too sick too go to school the won't miss out and the can keep on top of there school work. I think it great that are school is very technology advanced so is this the next step for use having classes online? I think it should be an option but not the only option because there is no substitution for the real hands on experience.

We are the machines

After watching Mr. Wesch video Web 2.0 ... The Machine is Us/ing Us and reading Clive Thompson's The New Literacy it made me wonder if all this stuff is changing rapidaly is there going to be a piont were we can't keep. Are we going to become slower than the machines we created. Are computers going to become so advance that we will become obsolete? Then what happens to us are we useless? Though we are write now more than ever is that going to be enough will we have to be one step ahead of the machine or is the machine already two steps ahead of us?If we are the machines are the machines us?

Bush-Era Missile Defense Plan Overhaul

After reading the article Obama scraps Bush-era missile defense for new plan it makes me think that Obama is very active in relationships with other countries. This new plan would make a better and safer than Bush's plan. Even though the Secretary of Defense Robert Gates denies the scrapping of the missile defense systems."The Islamic republic's "short- and medium-range" missiles pose the most current threat, he said, and "this new ballistic missile defense will best address that threat." This is a way for Obama to strength international relationships with Europe and there allies. So that is a good step forward for us. If threats are stopped immediately then maybe it will also stop wars.Though the system is useless against short and medium range it is still in development. That what i think about the article.

Media Convergence is Happening Now

After reading Mr. Fisch's Blog Did You Know? 4.0: The Economist Media Convergence Remix it makes me wonder about what the future is going to be like. If what use to fit in a building now fits in your pocket and what fit in your pocket will fit in a blood cell in 25 years. What will fit in your blood cell 25 years from now? It makes me wonder if newspaper, books, and magazines are becoming obsolete due to computers what going to make computers obsolete? There are 240,000,000 in the U.S. and 2,000,000 are in bathrooms yet there have been more videos uploaded to YouTube in the last two months than if ABC, NBC, and CBS have been airing new content 24/7/365 since 1948 so does that mean TVs are becoming obsolete? Are there then going to be 2,000,000 computers in the bathroom? It also makes me think about people who don't have computers are the going to be left behind? Are the things that happen on the internet affecting the economy if 95% of the songs downloaded last year weren't payed for could that have affected the recession?
